Governors Island Adventure

Considering the amount of time my husband and I have lived in NYC it's kind of crazy that we have never ventured out to Governors Island. Knowing that this weekend was the last to head out there for the season, we decided to hop on the ferry and go on a little adventure! The weather was so fantastic (actually a little hot for me...where's autumn hiding???) it was great to be out of the apartment and exploring something new together.

I really love this dress. It's insanely soft and light. Have you tried the Conscious Collection at H&M? What do you think of their items?

Governors Island had beautiful parks and amazing sculptures everywhere. Here are some of my favorites...

And check out the views...

The homes that are there are also a sight to see.

While we were there most of the yellow houses were displaying artwork in them. Some really amazing pieces...and some really off the wall stuff. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Before we left we picked up an amazing ice cream sandwich from Melt Bakery. We opted for The Morticia which was crackly chocolate cookies + malted chocolate rum ice cream. Delicious!

I hope you all are having a great weekend. Get out there and enjoy it! And if you are in the NYC area, take the ferry to Governors Island tomorrow. It's definitely worth it!

Bob Mackie Party at Screaming Mimi's

So I've been meaning to share these photos with all of you for some time now. With the new job and being super swamped on the weekends I just haven't had a second to post them yet. I'm not sure if I told you all that I had the amazing opportunity to be the official photographer at the Bob Mackie party that was being thrown at Screaming Mimi's in NYC.

If you haven't had a chance to enter to win this amazing Bob Mackie gown, be sure to enter.

Yes...that is a rabbit on a leash. Only in New York!

A super huge thank you needs to go out to Sammy Davis, the entire Bob Mackie team, and Screaming Mimi's for including me in such a fun and fabulous event! If you want to see more coverage from the event be sure to check out Diane Dulgerian Photography, Diane Dulgerian Photography's Facebook page, Sammy Davis Vintage, and Bob Mackie's blog.

Waves of Color

I have been hearing all about Orly Genger's exhibit in Madison Square Park called Red, Yellow and Blue for the last month now and been meaning to head downtown to check it out. So I decided to wake up extra early today before too many people were out and about...and especially before it got too hot (upper 80s and low 90s this week...eeekkk!).

When I arrived my inner art historian was so so so very happy! Red, Yellow and Blue makes you feel like you are in a scene in Alice in Wonderland...or a Dr. Seuss book. So magical and whimsical, don't you agree? This art installation just screamed fun!

Isn't the scalloped hemline just too adorable for words? So feminine...so girlie. It adds a little something special to this rather simple dress.

Red, Yellow and Blue is 1.4 million feet of hand knotted nautical rope (enough to span the length of Manhattan nearly 20 times!) that has been painted in these bold hues.

If you are in NYC from now through September 8th be sure to head on over to Madison Square Park to check it out. And you can always grab some Shake Shack afterwards.  ;-)

For those of you up in the Boston area, guess what? You will be able to check it out as well. It will travel to deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in October of 2013.
