Old Dresses & New Hair

Do you ever leave something in your closet and just not wear it no matter how cute it is? Want to hear somethings crazy?…………..

For some reason I have had this adorable dress sitting in my closet for over a year and haven’t worn it yet. I got it for my birthday in March of 2020, right as COVID was hitting…which in turn meant working from home, not seeing people in public, and wearing legging…lots of leggings. So this dress just sort of hibernated in my closet.

But I figured I might as well break it out now. Why not?! Adding this dress to the rotation of all of my plain, boring, basic, cotton dresses will jazz things up a bit. I mean this print is just too cute…animals playing tennis. Love it!

Also, I wanted to show you guys my new clip in hair extensions I just got recently from BFB Hair. I’m kind of obsessed with them. I’ve been wanting these for so long…and BFB Hair just had their 20% off sale that they have twice a year. So I grabbed these in Butterscotch. Initially I ordered a few sample colors to make sure the color matched, and this shade is so exact I cannot get over how natural it looks.

What do you guys think of the long locks?

Summer Dots

Summer officially arrived yesterday…and I’m not going to lie, I’m already counting down the days until fall (autumn is my favorite season). I hate being hot, but one thing that is keeping me cool is this adorable linen polka dot skirt that I bought out of my friend Nicole’s (aka Darling in Dots) closet.

This summer is going to look a little different for me, and I’m sure many of you. With COVID-19 still infecting people every day, I personally still don’t feel very comfortable outside for long amounts of time. It’s so hot under my mask (I took it off for one minute to snap these photos) that I would just prefer to go sit in my air conditioned apartment.

I will be sad that this summer will have no BBQs, no rooftop parties, no concerts…it’s going to be boring. But if that means it will keep me healthy, I’m okay with that. I might be going overboard with keeping my social distance, but with all the health issues I have I just can’t afford to chance anything.

So until this virus is GONE i will continue to wear polka dots, go on morning walks before the crowds in my neighborhood grow and the summer sun gets too hot, and enjoy the extra time with my dog and my husband as we’ve all been quarantined together since March…and I really would not want it any other way.

How are you planning on enjoying your summer?

Prints on Prints

I’ve always found pattern mixing rather difficult but lately have tried stepping out of my comfort zone a little with this style. I thought I’d take the opportunity to share my pattern mixing tips with all of you!

1) Use animal prints as a neutral.

2) Keep hues of different prints in the same color palette.

3) Don’t be afraid to mix florals, animal prints, stripes, or polka dots…but try to keep the patterns to two or three. You don’t want to be mixing seven patterns head to toe!

4) Have one print be the focus and another be the accent.

I hope this helps make you all feel comfortable with stepping our of your comfort zone and mixing up the patterns in your wardrobe a little. We all need to have a little fun with fashion…otherwise life is boring!

What are your favorite patterns to mix?

Favorite Ballet Flats

With as much walking as I do here in NYC, you know that I’m always looking for comfortable flats. I want something that is not going to fall apart right away, flats that don’t give me blisters, and nothing too expensive. Check out this great find that hits all of my requirements!

I just got the most cozy flats from J.Crew Factory. These Lizzie Leather Ballet Flats come in three colors: black ($31.50), almond ($31.50), and dark poppy ($69.99). I initially was looking at them because I wanted the dark poppy shade…but they didn’t have my size. So I picked up a pair of both the black and the almond. Pro tip, order a half a size up.
