Favorite Skincare Products

Over the last month or two my skincare routine has taken priority in my life. I was recently on some medication that made my skin breakout like crazy...and the normal face wash just wasn't cutting it. Also, I'm getting old. Go ahead, roll your eyes. But on March 20th I'll be 36 (ahhh!!!)...so if I don't start treating my skin with extra care I know I'll just be paying for it later on in life. And who wants to look like they are 60 when they are 40? Not me!

Here are my current favorite skincare items in my medicine cabinet.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer in Pink Grapefruit- I love this stuff. I think moisturizer is definitely needed in my beauty routine, but sometimes it can just be a little too greasy. And greasy is the last thing you want when your skin is breaking out. I use this moisturizer in the morning before I put my makeup on and also before I go to bed. Added bonus: it smells so yummy!

Foreo LUNA mini 2 Fuchsia + Day & Night Cleansers- I have never been so happy to purchase a beauty product. I'll be honest, this wasn't exactly cheap. But I had two Sephora gift cards and a Visa gift card so I thought, what the heck! What is so great about this cleansing brush? Not only is it great for every skin type, but it also combines 8,000 T-sonic pulsations per minute. Also, it stays charged for five months at a time and the rubber bristles never need to be replaced (unlike other cleansing brushes where you need to replace the brush heads). I use this every morning and every night and the difference it is making in my skin is remarkable.

Masksheets from Besfren Beauty- I have recently discovered Korean beauty products. Luckily I work super close to Koreatown in Manhattan and I can wander through the amazing little shops in that neighborhood during my lunch break. My all time favorite shop has to be Besfren Beauty. Not only is the shop adorable (if you are in NYC stop on by it's on 32nd Street between Fifth and Madison...closer to Fifth), the people that work there are so very helpful. For someone that doesn't speak/read Korean these beauty products can be kind of intimidating. They also have amazing deals! Every time I have gone I have gotten some serious discounts. If you aren't in NYC, no worries...they have a website you can shop on too! Just click the link above. I use a mask twice a week on my face. I actually ran out of masks for about a week or so and I could seriously feel the difference (and dryness!) in my skin. These products actually make my skin feel years younger.

Gift Guide: Beauty

I actually really love doing Christmas shopping...most of the time. It's when I get stuck and don't know what to get someone that I start to stress out and it then becomes so not fun. I've managed to finish up 90% of my shopping already (woohoo!) and I'm hoping to get it all done soon so I can sit back and relax. Who needs stress at the holidays? Amirite?

I thought I'd help take some of the shopping stress out of your life by putting together some handy gift guides. Today, we're starting with beauty gifts.

Pink Grapefruit Puree Body Lotion available at The Body Shop- on sale for $7.80

Bliss Triple Oxygen Clarify Protect Revitalize Trio- on sale for $136

Happy shopping!!!

Fall Is Just Around The Corner

Before you know it autumn will be here, and I couldn't be happier! I welcome the (slightly) cooler weather, hot cider, the smell of dried leaves, pumpkin pies, and most of all fall fashion.

Isn't this dress amazing? I'm loving the midi length, the bow detailing, and the adorable floral & bird print. This dress screams autumn to me...but it's light enough (so light that I had to wear a slip underneath) that I can start wearing it now and slowly transition it into the fall. Adding a cute black jacket over top, or even layering it over a turtleneck or black sheer top will keep you warm while looking extra cool.

What I love most about this look is that I got both the dress and shoes on sale at Lord & Taylor (along with numerous other items you'll see popping up on the blog soon!). Be sure to stop by the store or their website this weekend as they are having amazing discounts. And no, this is not a sponsored post...I'm just obsessed with the fantastic deals I always find there when I stop by to shop on my lunch break. Yes, it is dangerous having a L&T a block away from my office!

Color Pop!

No matter if it is my outfit, my makeup, or my photography, I absolutely love adding in a splash of color. I know, I know...you guys are probably saying...you wear so much black. Yes, that is true. But, I always try to add in a pop of color to keep the look from being to dark and boring.

Here are my top 5 easy ways to making your images and looks stand out from the crowd.

1. Wear one bold piece of clothing. I have been doing this ever since high school. I remember back then I'd wear a crazy colored dress with black tights, shoes, and cardigan. To this day I find myself still following these old habits. One thing I often do is wear a colorful coat over a black outfit. Take the look shown here for instance. I have only had this coat for a couple of weeks (and only worn it a handful of times) but New Yorkers have been stopping me left and right to tell me how much they love the color. Who said New Yorkers were unfriendly anyway???

2. Wear a bold lip! Trust me on this one. It not only makes your look seem more complete and polished but it really does make you stand out from the rest. Personally, I feel like everyone needs to own a great red lipstick. Don't go and say you can't pull it off. You can! Just have some confidence, and I promise you'll be getting compliments from strangers. The red lip I'm wearing here is always a conversation starter. Strangers have stopped me while I was vacationing in New Orleans, crossing Fifth Avenue in NYC, in Bloomingdale's, and even in a full elevator to tell me how much they love this shade. FYI: it's Sephora's Creme Lip Stain in 01 Always Red. It is my absolute favorite.

3. When taking photos I think that a colorful background is always key. If you have ever checked out my portrait photography you will see how important color is to my images. A simple tip is no matter what anyone is wearing I like to use colors found in nature and the landscape around us to enhance the subject. Using opposite colors on the color wheel is a great way to make an image pop! If someone has green eyes, put them next to some purple flowers. If you're wearing a red dress, lay down in the bright green grass in the park. You get the picture!

*Speaking about getting the picture...you are all about to get a great deal with my photography! I'm giving all of my readers 20% off of any of my photography packages. If you are in the NYC area, please book your session by July 1st to get the discount. Just let me know that you are a reader for the full discount.*

4. Try some colorful legwear. As much as I love basic black tights (they really do go with everything), I find colorful tights to add so much fun to every look. In my massive bag of tights that I have sitting in my closet I have so many crazy colors: vivid purple, hot pink, wild tie dye...the list goes on and on. Fashion is about having fun. So go out on the limb and try something outside of the box.

5. Try adding in some colorful jewelry. My jewelry box is full of things like turquoise necklaces, a pink horse pin, and red earrings. It's stuff like this that turns a basic look into a stylish outfit.

How do you have fun with color in your everyday looks and your photography???
